I also used the Revive services at the Stable just to see if that would help, it did not. Well you can try staying logged out for a full 30 min see if that will unstuck ur pet, im sure theres a ticket way to get it resolved but im not sure.
Logged out for a little over 30 minutes, no change. Use Revive Pet. I would suggest ticketing Blizzard and see if they can offer assistance.
I had this issue happen to one of my Hunters the other day, but thankfully a logout fixed it. This path might not be the best, but it allows you to describe your issue. Be sure to tell them all that you have already done to try to fix it. Try dismissing the pet. If that works without an error message, call another pet, dismiss that one, then call the original pet again. I think logging out does all that command does plus more.
Probably going to need a ticket as Kyzera said. Kalviery - I tried exactly that even logged out after stabling and logging back in before step 4. Still does not work. I even abandoned all quests before that just in case something was interfering there. Both of those are for a battle pet revive - the non-combat companion pets are different than hunter pets.
There is no cooldown for a hunter pet revive, even when you first log in. One of them is mend pet, which automatically changes to revive pet when your pet has died. In the pet utility is a dismiss pet button which can be used to dismiss your current pet. FWIW, all the buttons on the pet utility in the spell book can be dragged out of the utility and put on your action bar as individual buttons.
That can be useful for trouble shooting pet situations. Saves the extra click for opening up the pet utility drop down and fumbling for the right button in the middle of a fight. Go ahead and submit a ticket so that the Game Master team can work with you on this. Weirdly, all 3 commands work. The more you know! My Hunter pet is dead, can't be revived and can't be dismissed!
